I stumbled across a project by photographer Irina Werning called ‘Back to the Future’. I decided to post the project because I found it somewhat amusing and am fascinated by the attention paid to detail on Werning’s behalf. What the photographer has done is taken some people favourite child photographs and recreates them with the same person/people, wearing the same clothes in the same place. Whether this particular project has any effect on my work I’m not sure, it’s an interesting idea, to which if I recreate I would be merely copying, however it does make me think about producing imagery of someone like my brother in the present which interact with his childhood. I find there is not much to say about these photographs, they are what they are, however how well she has managed to replicate the images is amazing, in regards to absolutely everything, the attires, the places, the lighting, the variation in cameras she was using is fantastic and is what makes the pictures work and fun.
